Look Groups: Hepworth's Chisel Chat

29 April 2015 at 15.00–15.45

Free for Members

Currently on display at Tate St Ives is a chisel that belonged to the sculptor Barbara Hepworth. Up until recently it had been displayed, most likely since 1975, in the preserved studio at the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden.

Does it matter to you that this chisel belonged to Hepworth? What role do you think it plays, if any, in how Hepworth is thought about today? What connections might be formed through such an object, and how might it relate to your own roles as part of the Look Group in Cornwall?

This discussion will take place in the Tate St Ives' Studio Resource Room, where the chisel is currently displayed, and will be with Helena Bonett, who has organised the display and is undertaking research into Hepworth's legacy.
